business newsadd your comments to this news article ![]() Candy Bar Brighton relocatesFriday, 5 March 2004 ...and not a moment too soon for those who were fed up of having to admit they were going to FuK. Not that we didn't love club FuK (which stood, apparently, for 'Fun in the UK'), but I'm sure we were all agreed that the name was a disaster. Finally the Candy Bar is able to serve its customers standing up... at the bar, in fact... rather than sticking to the bizarre table service rule that it was forced to employ further up St James' Street. REALBrighton was obviously down there mingling with both local and national celebs (Alex Parks was there somewhere, although she vanished at the first sign of a camera). The place has expanded in most directions, notably into what was the cloakroom in order to accommodate the requisite pool table. They've also extended the bar around into the little alcove, and given the whole place a good lick or three of paint (I'm sure my hand left a print on the door as I arrived...). Door-policy-wise... Although firmly aimed at the lesbian crowd, gay men will be allowed in unaccompanied - which is very good news for all those that were bemoaning the change of hands. And toilet-wise... well, I wouldn't mention it unless it was worth mentioning: There's just one unisex toilet with cubicles and a urinal at the end. It's novel, and quite refreshing!
